Happy Columbus Day

That I have the capability to do anything and ONLY I can tell myself what I can and cannot do. AND when I remember that faith is vital in bleak situations; that faith in God, faith in Man, and faith in Myself is what will keep me strong and what will allow me to remain: passionate, caring, adventurous, mellow, understanding, friendly, honest, realistic, optimistic, hard working, forgiving, funny, wild, loving and most of all HOPEFUL.*

Unemployment and poverty increases in even the most developed of nations

Pablo Neruda wrote that poem (only a piece of which is quoted above) for a woman he loved, but today I dedicate it to a land I love; the land of my parents. My orgullo is for my patria and for all who celebrate with me Hispanic Heritage this month and all year around. 

It's a Raqy world!

Allow me to introduce myself… I’m Raqy (pronounced Rah-Key, not Rock-Y, and you have to make sure you roll that R … Rrrrrah-key. All together now… RRRRAQY. Good!) I have decided that it is time I put my ideas out there, even if no one is listening. This blog will be a reflection of my ideas, opinions, values, political view points, and just random crap that I find interesting. I am new to this whole blogging thing so please go easy on this poor virgin (for now). Also, I would love to know what you all find interesting and important so I ask you to please share your ideas with me. I promise if they are stupid I will only laugh a little. With that very short (and now as I re-read I realize not very informative) introduction allow me to present my depiction of a very Raqy (this time you can pronounce it as Rock-Y) world!
